Description | This is a series of filmed conversations between Barbara Steveni and women she worked with including: Sarah Wedderburn (Riverside Studios), Julie Lawson (ICA), Anna Ridley (TV Producer), Felicity Sparrow (Circles), Laure Prouvost (Artist), Deborah Brisley (APG), Jane Trowell (Platform), Jo Melvin (Curator and writer) and Carlyle Reedy (Artist/O+I). The conversation with Wedderburn and Lawson was made jointly. Barbara Steveni developed the project in response to the 2012 Raven Row exhibition of APG, through which she became aware of the invisibility of the women involved in the avant-garde art scene, and particularly within the APG network, during the 1970s and 1980s. She undertook a series of conversations to give voice to these women, alongside her own. The project was funded from grants from the Arts Council and The Elephant Trust. Barbara Steveni viewed this as part of her I AM AN ARCHIVE work. |
