DescriptionZ'ev [Stefan Weisser] (1951-2017) was an American experimental sound artist, who focussed on percussion. Barbara Steveni met Z'ev at Richard Wilson, Paul Burwell and Anne Bean's Bow Gamelan Ensemble, for whom he played percussion, having joined the group in 1987, and they started a relationship. Barbara Steveni assisted Z'ev with his work in terms of its organisation and finding opportunities and they made a film together, based on the River Thames called 'I Find Myself'. Z'ev lived on and off at Barbara Steveni's home until c.2016. After his death, Barbara Steveni was involved in assisting with his memorial in New York and his memorial at the South London Gallery. She was also responsible for placing his archive and his collection of hand-made instruments at institutions.
