| Description | In 1928, Wood spent a period of time with the Nicholsons, in both Cumbria and Cornwall, after the conclusion of his relationship with Meraud Guinness. It was the beginning of a very productive two year period which preceded his death. Whilst in Cornwall, Ben Nicholson and Wood became fascinated by the 'naive' painting of the fisherman Alfred Wallis. Towards the end of the year, Wood became involved with Frosca Munster, his last and most devoted mistress. Letters written from: Paris, Chelsea, Carlisle (Cumbria), The Royal Scot, Sussex, St. Feoch (Cornwall) and St. Ives. |
