| Description | In 1923, Wood travelled again, in Italy, which he found a great inspiration. He also saw the celebrated Russian Ballet, directed by Diaghilev, with Stravinsky as its composer, Nijinski as its star, and its scenery designed by Picasso. The ballet fascinated him, and the idea of designing for it remained a preoccupation. Letters written from: Paris, Nice, Algiers, Timgad, Tunis, Salermo (Italy), Napoli (Italy), Rome, Venice, Chelsea, Edinburgh and Inverness. |
