| Description | Anderson's letter of 2 October refers to one she wrote to Himid 26 January, a copy of which she encloses.
Anderson is a student of Griselda Pollock's at Leeds University. In her first letter, she discusses being 'the only black person in the art department at Leeds'. Having given birth to a baby, Emile, she plans to write her dissertation about 'Portrait of the artist as a coloured girl', investigating artists such as Maud Sulter and Orlan.
In her second letter, she discusses Himid's recommendation that she read 'Passion : discourses on Blackwomen's creativity', edited by Sulter (1990). |
