| Description | Suggests that Himid contact Nedira Yakir and Penny Florence about organising an event to tie in with her Tate St Ives residency, and visit the 'fabulous colorist' Wilhelmina Barns-Graham. Pollock thinks it would be interesting for Himid 'to intervene in the English and masculinity of the construction of the St Ives/Newlyn painting scene'. She remembers a great conference in St Ives about tourism and the 'South West extremity'.
Originally enclosed cheque for permission to reproduce Himid's 'Act one no maps' in Pollock's book 'Differencing the canon : feminism and the writing of art's histories' (1999). She cannot to afford to buy the work herself, but hopes the reproduction will help to circulate it. She will mention it to Leeds Art Gallery. |
