| Description | Himid has agreed to participate in a group exhibition with the working title 'Gendered visions : art by five Africana women artists', Herbert F. Johnson Museum, Cornell University (25 January-19 March 1996). Hassan invites Himid to participate in symposium planned with opening. The exhibition will also feature Houria Niati (Algeria/UK), Angèle Etoundi Essamba (Cameroon/Netherlands), Liz Atnafu (Ethiopia/USA), and Xenobia Bailey (Africa-America/USA). Olu Oguibe will contribute an essay on Himid's work for catalogue, and has asked her to send slides. Salah has just read Gilane Tawadaros' essay on Himid, Sonia Boyce, Sutapa Biswas and other Black British artists in the anthology 'Black British cultural studies : a reader', with Himid's work on the cover.
