| Description | Himid transcribes ('translates') Burton's faded and near-illegible fax (19 July) by hand. To date only 'Frederick Douglass' has sold from the 'Beach house' series shown at the gallery earlier in the year. There have been enquiries about the 'Beach house' works in Himid's catalogue.
Himid's fax (9 August) requests information about any interest in the 'Beach house' works, in advance of the 'Beach house' exhibition in Ayr, Scotland, opening on 5 October.
Alston's fax (10 August) notes that five paintings have been sent to Himid : 'Yaa Asantewaa', 'Alexandre Dumas', 'James Baldwin', 'Romare Bearden', and 'Augusta Savage'. She is retaining 'Beethoven's cousin' and 'Beach house (black and white)'. Peg and Willis will visit Burton's relatives in Charleston, South Carolina. |
