DescriptionAlston has been made honorary chairperson of 'art (by women) exhibit', and asked if she wished to include any artists. She gave Himid's name and may include her painting of Langston Hughes. Its inclusion could serve to promote Himid's forthcoming 'Portraits and heroes' exhibition at Alston's gallery. Alston would also like to include Maud Sulter's Ashanti doll photograph. Lorna Simpson will also be in the show.
