Discussing Himid's painting of Harlem Renaissance writer Langston Hughes Alston commissioned from Himid. Asks for a larger, brighter one to show up better in a photograph. This probably relates to publicity for Himid's exhibition at the gallery, 'Portraits and heroes', which Alston asks if she can postpone a week so she can attend quinquennial International Bead Conference in Washington (17-19 November 1995). Himid's exhibition will open in 1996.
